National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum
Former NAS Cecil Field | Jacksonville, Florida
CPO Heritage Week 2026 will begin with a new tradition — the Inaugural CPO Heritage 5K Run/Bike, an immersive heritage and remembrance experience through the historic grounds of the former Naval Air Station Cecil Field.
This is more than a run.
Participants will move through a course that connects the history of one of the Navy’s former Master Jet Bases with the legacy of the Chief Petty Officer, the stories of Navy Chiefs who became POW/MIA, and the six Articles of the United States Military Code of Conduct.
The morning will conclude with breakfast and guided tours of the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum.

For generations, Sailors stationed at NAS Cecil Field trained, deployed, and answered our nation’s call.
Today, portions of this historic ground are being preserved as part of the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum — ensuring the stories of America’s prisoners of war and those who remain missing are remembered, honored, and taught to future generations.
The CPO Heritage 5K brings those histories together.

Throughout the course, participants will stop at significant locations
across the former base and learn about:
Every stop has a purpose.Every story has a name.Every mile carries a legacy.
The course is built around six heritage presentations — one at the start, four along the route, and one at the finish.
Each station will connect three elements:
A piece of NAS Cecil Field history and the significance of the location where participants are standing.
The story of a Chief Petty Officer connected to our nation’s POW/MIA history.
One Article of the U.S. Military Code of Conduct and its connection to leadership, service, sacrifice, duty, and resilience.
